Karinya is a 35 bed aged care facility which offers permanent residential care in single room accommodation. Our skilled and compassionate team of staff provide assistance for day-to-day living activities and requirements.
Our facility is comprised of single rooms with private ensuites.
The facility is attended by care staff 24 hours per day to ensure quality medical care. Residents can also access staff assistance through the use of the emergency call bells in the bedroom and bathroom of each suite and throughout the facility.
We offer a range of lifestyle and wellness programs to encourage residents’ participation and offer regular social activities including:
- happy hour
- bus trips
- carpet bowls
- book club
- mens’ group
- in-house library together with fortnightly visits from staff from town library
- poetry/reading activities
- high tea
- movie nights
- Various ‘theme days’ such as St. Patricks and Melbourne Cup are organised throughout the year
A volunteer group known as ‘Friends of Karinya’ provide a volunteer weekly shopping service for residents. Church services are regularly conducted at Karinya. A hairdresser visits our on-site salon weekly.
Karinya also provide various professional services such as a physiotherapist, occupational therapist, and offers aromatherapy, massage therapy, exercises and the ‘Drumbeat’ program.
All menus are prepared and cooked in our kitchen with all meals being served in the central dining area.
Two lounge areas are located within the facility together with a large clubroom with television, video/DVD player, piano/organ, sewing machine and stereo. Within our ‘Pool Room’ a pool table is provided for the resident’s enjoyment and is where ‘Happy Hour’ is held within the facility. Wifi is also now available. A fully equipped laundry is situated onsite and serviced by staff. Bed linen and towels are provided and laundered commercially by us each week. Labelling is available if required.
Standard furniture consisting of a bed, bedside cabinet and wardrobe is provided in each resident’s room. Residents are encouraged to bring their own items of small furniture and belongings in order to personalise their room. These may include pictures, a comfortable chair, china cabinet (no glass) or small dressing table. We encourage residents to bring any hobbies/activities they may be interested in eg. knitting, painting etc. A telephone connection is provided in each room.
